1940	The profession of Image Consultant took center stage in the United States by the legends of Hollywood such as Marilyn Monroe, Audry Hepburn or Elizabeth Taylor. They called upon their Image Consultants and their job was to make the best image out of them with advice on clothing style, hairstyle and make-up.
1960	The "image" becomes more and more important. The French president Georges Pompidou, passionate about contemporary art, worked, without knowing it, on his cultural, social and political image. He opened the door to personal image counsellors around the shopping district.Cinema and political stars benefited from image counseling.
1995	French president Jacques Chirac’s daughter Claude installed a sort of communication with the image in politics. The profession of Communications Consultant is born out of a mix of verbal and non-verbal communication and fashion.
2000	The profession of Image Consultant gets media coverage and becomes "relooking". Often mistreated, it gets a bad name and loses its value.
2003	Associations are created to govern the profession of Image Consultant. To avoid individuals without training and credentials to present themselves as Image Consultants, professionals must have credials.
